– Entries roll in, set to close Sunday
Over 70 Entries have come in and more expected before Sunday’s closing date for the Norman Singh Memorial Turf Club in collaboration with the Shariff Racing stable meeting on Sunday October 23 at the Club’s No 6, Bel Air, West Coast Berbice racetrack.
Nine races are carded for the day and a whopping $8M is available in cash and trophies. The organisers have made to key changes to the programme with the feature B class event being set for a distance of 1200M as against the original 1800M that was stated on the original programme. The winner will collect a whopping $1,200,000 and trophy.
The other race with a change is the 3yrs old event for horses Bred and Born in Guyana and the West Indies with $800,000 as the first prize. This race has also been reduced to a 1200M distance from the original 1400M.
The other races are for horses in the E and F Class division with a $600,000 first prize and trophy over 1100M. While there will be no allowance for apprentice jockeys, allowance will be subject to sex of the animals.
The race for 2 yrs old West Indies bred horses over 1100M has a $400,000 top prize and trophy. The 2 yrs old Guyana Bred event also over 1100M has a top billing of $250,000 and trophy.
The G1 & Lower race also over 1100M has a first prize of $250,000 and trophy.
I1 and Lower race is over a distance of 1400M with winnings set at $180,000. I3 –3 yrs old & over Winner of 1 race only will be going over a distance of 1100M and the first prize set at $160,000.
The final race on the day is for Division 1, 2 & 3 or the J, K&L horses over 1100M for the $120,000.
The race meet will be held under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority and interested persons can have their horses entered through Mohammed Shariff on Tel No: 611-0684,
