Keshwar Raghunandan ,51,of Woodley Park, West Coast Berbice, the driver who is accused of causing the
death of machinist Joseph Jacque called “Joe Joe” was yesterday charged with causing death by dangerous driving. He appeared before Magistrate Roby Benn at the Blairmont Magistrate’s Court and was placed on $400,000 bail. He is slated to return to court on October 21.
Jacque, 38, a father of one, of Lot 52 Stanleytown, New Amsterdam, was killed in an accident last Saturday around 07:30 hrs, at Onderneeming, West Coast Berbice, while on his way to work.
A Post Mortem examination conducted Monday by Dr. Vivekanand Brijmohan at the New Amsterdam hospital revealed the victim died from multiple Injuries as a result of the accident.
According to reports, Jacque, a Machinist of the Jumbo Jet Auto Sales at Chester, West Coast Berbice, was on his way to work on his motorcycle CF 5339 when a left-hand drive Nissan Maxima motorcar car PNN 7187 slammed into him in the vicinity of the Gas Station at Hopetown West Coast Berbice. His left leg was ripped from his body. The left side of his head was also ripped open and parts of his brain were on the road. The man’s intestines were also protruding. The car it is understood was heading towards Rosignol and in trying to overtake another vehicle it slammed into Jacque, badly mangling his body.
Jacque leaves to mourn his wife, Jonelle Harewood-Jack, a teacher at the New Amsterdam Multilateral Secondary School, who was observing her birthday on the same day. The man has one son, Jalen, who is 8 years old, other brothers and a sister.
