Guyanese born Canadian bodybuilder Eustace Abrams continues to grow from strength to strength in the sport in his new homeland of Canada. Abrams has competed at a number of competitions in the past few months and has been improving leaps and bounds as he aims to achieve Professional status.
Competing at the Toronto Super Pro Show and Fitness Expo which returned to Toronto, Canada after a few years lay-off where over 200 IFBB Amateurs form Canada and 200 Pros from 80 countries around the world, competed at the packed event, Abrahams took part in the Provincial Championships and came out 3rd in the Heavyweight / Masters Over 40 Class and 4th in the Men’s Super Heavyweight (225lbs) and up category.
Among the thousands of fans and dignitaries at this event were superstars including the likes of former Mr. Olympia’s Dorian Yates, Ronnie Coleman, Jay Cutler and the reigning Mr. Olympia Phil Heath along with other top Pros.
Abrams’ performance qualified him for the IFBB North Americas Championship which was held on September 2nd and 3rd in Cleveland Ohio, this event was promoted by the famous Gary Udit.
Bodybuilders from the USA, Canada and Mexico were the main draw.
In the Masters Over-40 which attracted 23 athletes, Abrams placed 8th and according to him, perseverance and consistency was the umbrella under which he shelters. He said he was not too happy because since the competition was though and his opportunity for his IFBB Pro License was shifting farther away from his grasp.
Conscious that he needed an expert to further guide his career, Abrams informed that he approached IFBB Pro Dennis ‘The Menace’ James, one of the biggest names in the Bodybuilding industry to date in the entire world who won the overall Mr. Universe in 1995 at the start of his career and went on to win a series of IFBB Pro shows in the USA and around the world including 3rd place at the highest and most prestigious level in bodybuilding history, Mr. Olympia.
“After a series of consultations with Mr. James, I was relieved when he accepted and took me under his wings. In twenty (20) days the guy did a complete change over on my body thus allowing me to compete at the Canadian nationals and placing at the top 5 out of 14 guys in the Masters Over-40 heavyweight category.”
“At the Canadian nationals it does not matter how good you are, you join the line and work your way up. But I was able to jump the line beating guys who were making mince meat out of me for years and I put the judges on notice letting them know I will be back soon to dominate.”
The Canadian national’s is the highest level in Canada.
