Last night’s opening game of the Mackeson Smooth Moves 3-on-3 competition in Georgetown is enough proof to suggest that the tournament is wide open. As was the case in Linden last Sunday one of the strongest team’s in the first GT group opened with a lost. Courts Pacesetters’ ‘B’ team, which comprised Clemente Brusche, Mark Richards, Hugh Arthur and Sean Gillis, lost 8-10 to Knights in the first game of the Georgetown Zone on none other than the famous outdoor venue, Burnham Basketball Court.
Courts Pacesetters ‘B’, which seemed strong on paper, was likened to Kingsway in Linden in the opening group of that zone, but it is clear that some of the smaller teams in the tournament are in no way considering themselves minnows, which makes things interesting.
However, up to Kaieteur Sport press time, we were unable to ascertain how the group ended and Pacesetters ended in the group. The competition continued into the night last night and will most likely be continued today. The first prize is $1M or a trip to the NBA All-Star.
