Another road accident has resulted in the death of a Berbice man and this has been described
as one of the most gruesome road fatalities yet.
Joseph Jacque, also known as Jojo, a 34-year-old father of one, was killed early yesterday morning while on his way to his machinist job at Jumbo Jet, West Coast Berbice. He lived at 52 Stanleytown, New Amsterdam, Berbice. He rode to work each day.
His left leg was severed and his head crushed. There was a long bloody trail as the car dragged the body on the West Berbice Public Road.
It was alleged that he was killed by a speeding car that was trying to over take another vehicle. The driver was identified as Keshwar Raghunandan of Woodley Park, West Coast Berbice. It was understood that Jacque was reportedly exiting the gas station after purchasing gasoline when the car hit him.
There was one report that suggested that Jacque was trying to overtake a vehicle when he collided with the oncoming car.
According to Jacque’s family who gave the information as they received it, the man was on his way to work when he stopped to get some gas at a station. After receiving the fuel the man began to pull out of the station when the speeding car overtook a vehicle, swerved into Jacque’s path and struck him down. Kaieteur News was told that the accident occurred just before 8:00 hours.
The sister of the dead man told the paper that while she did not have details of what occurred, she was at home when she learned of her
brother’s demise via telephone. The woman said she was shocked and deeply saddened by the news.
Jacque died on the day his wife, Jonelle Haywood-Jacque, was celebrating her birthday.
This latest incident has increased the number of fatalities on Guyana’s roads to 82 accidents resulting in 90 deaths.

sad
This is very sad my heart goes out to his family
a bus hit him first! if the car hit him, don’t you think there would be damage to the car other than the wheel being broken? the car ran over him after he was knocked off his motorcycle.
