Much improvement is expected at the Bush Lot United Turf Club when that entity stages another one day horserace meet on Sunday October 9 at the Club’s Track Bush Lot West Coast Berbice. Among the improvements done to the entity in the short space of time is the renovation and covering of the Grand Stand, the relaying of the track which has been rolled and leveled. New washroom facilities have also been constructed with running water installed, all for the comfort of the spectators. Another new attraction will see the starting gates being used.
Eight races are listed for the day with prize money totaling over $2M in cash and trophies up for grabs.
The feature G and Lower race carries a winning purse of $250,000 and trophy over 1400M.
The Two Year old Guyana Bred Maiden event has a winner’s money of $150, 000 over 1200M.
There H class winning take is set at $120,000 and trophy over 1200M.
The event for ‘I’ and lower horses over 1200M is set for $100,000 and a trophy.
The J and lower race will see the winner take home $80,000 and a trophy over 1000M.
The Winner of the Class ‘K’ will get $30,000 and a trophy.
There is a race for Maiden horses’ over 1000M for a winning purse of $100,000 and trophy.
There are two group races, one for Group one animal’s and the other for Group two horses with the winning money being set at $60,000 and $50,000 respectively and trophy over 1000M.
A number of sponsors are on board including Banks DIH Limited, GT&T, the Sheriff Racing Stables and the Trophy Stall, Bourda Market.
A number of animals including some of Guyana’s best have been entered for the days meet which is expected to be action pack.
Among those inking their names on the day’s programme so far are Sir Balajee, Zelona, Top Of the Line, Wok Force, Prospectors Pride, Royal Time, Royal Salute, Flying Object, Windy War, Felicia, Sure Time, Spring Time, She is Royal, New Moon, O So Sharp, School Boy, MacGyver, Mr. Briggs, Sonia Door, Little Tip Top, Pleasant Surprise, Black Tricks, Natural Black, Kevin, Natural Mystic, Texas Ranger, Reverse, Busy Time, Mischief, Shivone, Black Water, Valentino , Black Gold and Billy the kid among others.
The organizers have expressed thanks so far to a number of persons including Rommel Jagroop, Mohammed ‘Nankoo’ Sheriff, Buddy Shivraj and Senior Council Marcel Crawford who is the legal advisor among others.
