Wishes the team success on World Cup sojourn
The Management and staff of Roti Hut, Albert Street and North Road yesterday hosted the ‘Golden Jaguars’ to lunch as a means of encouragement ahead of their return 2014 World Cup Brazil Qualifying matches against Barbados and Bermuda on Friday and next Tuesday, respectively.
Manager Rajin Ganga who represented Managing Director Naeem Naseer, in a brief comments stated that Roti Hut and Bakewell were very honoured to host Guyana’s Flagship Football team to lunch.
“Our track record is known by all when it comes to the support for sports and its holistic development in Guyana. We see today’s activity as a means of encouraging this team which has embarked on a long journey of qualifying for the World Cup finals in Brazil in 2014. We at Roti Hut and Bakewell have the confidence that you guys will do us proud and we want to be on board from the start of this very important campaign. You have our full support in this endeavor and we want to wish you the very best for the games against Barbados and Bermuda and then of course T&T in November.”
Captain of the ‘Golden Jaguars’ Christopher Nurse commenting on the preparations of the team said that things have been going well, the players have been gelling fine so far and the focus in on doing Guyana proud by qualifying for the WC finals.
“We would like to say thanks to Mr. Naseer, the management and staff of Roti Hut for providing lunch for us today and for all the other things they have done for us as a team. We will do you and Guyana proud.”
Commenting on the return game against Barbados, Nurse, who plays with Carolina RailHawks in the North American Soccer League and has been part of a sensational season for the Railhawks, going on a 10 game win streak in a team that broke almost every existing club record and finishing top of the North American Soccer League, winning the regular season title, said that they have played the Bajans and they know what to expect.
“The foreign based players have brought a lot of leadership and experience to this team which is a huge positive. Along with the local based players we now we are a formidable side to contend with. It’s good that Leon Cort and Ricky Shakes are finally here and will work with them to get the best out of them as we mould a solid team.”
The Golden Jaguars will leave Guyana today for Barbados with the game set for Friday at 16:00hrs at the National Stadium in the Land of the Flying Fish. The Guyanese will return on Saturday before leaving for Bermuda on Sunday morning.
