A 30-year-old Canadian citizen is currently in custody assisting with investigation after a quantity of cocaine was found in a false wall of his suitcase, while attempting to leave the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri.
According to reports, the man was nabbed by ranks of the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit early yesterday morning while he was about to board a BWIA Flight destined to Trinidad then to Canada.
The man, according to reports, had already passed immigration but while his luggage was being searched ranks on duty noticed what appeared to be a false wall in one of the suitcases. A thorough search revealed that a white powered substance was stashed in that false wall.
The man who gave authorities a Subryanville address was taken into police custody while the substance was subsequently tested positive as cocaine.
Investigations are ongoing and charges are likely to be laid shortly.
