Dwayne John, who was accused of unlawfully and maliciously wounding Telsan Curry, was on Thursday brought before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry to answer to the wounding charge. John pleaded not guilty.
On July 28, last, at Sophia, John slapped Curry as a result of an argument.
Curry subsequently reported the matter, obtained a medical certificate and led to John’s arrest and charge.
The court heard that the men were known to each other. John had apparently been having an affair with the virtual complainant’s girlfriend. This sparked the confrontation, the court heard.
The prosecution asked for substantial bail.
John, who resides at Lot 39 Norton Street, asked to post $150,000 bail and ordered to return to court on October 19.
