Children in the Pediatric Ward of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) will now enjoy a more “child friendly” atmosphere after receiving a donation worth $500,000 in the form of educational charts, bookcases, furniture and stationery from Unicomer Inc. (COURTS).
The presentation was made yesterday afternoon, at the ward, by executive members of the company to representatives of the GPHC, with nurses and patients waiting patiently to examine the latest acquisitions.
According to Steve Nauth, Finance Manager of COURTS, his company had continuously participated in such events at the hospital, especially in the children’s ward, since they are considered “the future generation”.
Kaieteur News understands that the purpose of such ventures is “giving back to the future generation especially in the health sector” as the corporate entity recognizes that doctors, nurses and other hospital staff work assiduously towards the development and well-being of the young children.
Nauth explained that with such gestures by his company, the idea is to provide some form of assistance to the children who are warded at the hospital for whatever reason and posited that COURTS hopes continue with similar assistance to the GPHC.
A representative of the GPHC told Kaieteur News that COURTS has been donating to the Pediatric Ward of the said hospital for a number of years and this is testimony to its commitment towards the nurturing, caring and recovery of each child who is sick or needs medical attention.
The hospital assured that the items donated yesterday will “go a far way” in helping to deliver quality services, and assurances were given that the teams of nurses will place extra efforts into ensuing that all the materials are utilised appropriately.
