The body of 86-year-old Cecil Birbal, of Free and Easy Village, Wakenaam, was found in a trench at Maria’s Pleasure.
A relative told this newspaper that Birbal had been losing his senses recently and was in the habit of leaving his house and walking along the road. Efforts by relatives to keep Bibal at home proved futile.
On Sunday last, he left his house but did not return. Neighbours realized that he was not home and informed his relatives.
A search yesterday headed by one of his grandsons discovered his body in a trench about a quarter mile off the main public road.
His body has been taken to the Essequibo Funeral Parlour where a post mortem will be conducted.
Birbal lived with his reputed wife in a house but the aged woman has been staying with relatives recently because of Birbal’s odd behaviour.
