Saturday morning, Sharon Khan was desperate to find her pet Macaw “Eddie”. Yesterday she was relieved because a public spirited person returned her stolen pet.
Khan related that just as she wiped her tears and was making her way off to bed, the telephone rang.
Holding her breath, Khan said that she managed to get the receiver to her ear but somehow her voice was stuck in her throat. While gathering her thoughts, a pleasant voice said “Miss Khan? I found your macaw.”
The ecstatic woman said that she started to question the caller about how and where she found Eddie and whether he was okay and had eaten.
She said that her emotions didn’t even allow her to question the woman on how she found him or if she knew the person that took him.
Without even seeking a name, Khan collected the person’s address, not even thinking twice about going to a stranger’s house in the middle of the night. She quickly grabbed a robe and went to meet the unknown caller.
Upon arrival at the person’s house, Eddie spotted Khan and he flew calmly over to her, landing on her finger.
The pleased woman said that she wanted to squeeze Eddie as she was overwhelmed, but then she immediately remembered how “birdied” Eddie really is.
Khan told Kaieteur News that she is extremely happy, a far cry from Saturday when she had realized that Eddie had gone missing. She had left him in her snackette – Sharon’s Creole Corner, on the Peter’s Hall Public Road.
Upon her return to her business place, Khan saw a man on a motor cycle leaving. After a few seconds had passed and Khan got over her disappointment of losing her customer, she then realized that Eddie was no where in the shop.
Khan said that there are many persons in Guyana who value their pets and other animals as much as they value human beings.
