The semifinals of the 2011 Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club Busta Champion of Champions cricket Tournament would be played today between Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club Gizmos & Gadgets and Blairmont at the Area “H” ground and Port Mourant Karibee Rice and Edinburgh at the Port Mourant ground. The four teams had all registered easy victories in their opening rounds to reach the semifinals and two high class matches are expected.
At the Area “H” ground, six times defending champions Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets would start as heavy favourites with players like Assad Fudadin, Royston Crandon, Delbert Hicks, Dominic Rikhi, Clinton Pestano, Khemraj Mahadeo, Rajiv Ivan, Jason Sinclair and Shawn Pereira. The batting is powerful on paper with Renwick Batson, Hicks, Fudadin, Crandon, Sinclair, Ivan and Eon Hooper, while medium pacers Batson and Clinton Pestano would spearhead the bowling with support from off spinner Crandon, Loyydel Lewis, Fudadin, Hooper and leg spinner Shawn Pereira.
Blairmont would depend heavily on Romain Budhram, Wagar Hassan, Nick Ramsaroop, Karamchand Bissoondyal and Parmanand Ramdan. At the Port Mourant Cricket Ground, a close encounter would be expected between Port Mourant Karibee Rice and Edinburgh. Port Mourant’s challenge would be carried by Andre Percival, Moshin Perkhan, Robert Moore, Bhojnarine Persaud, Shastri Persaud, Devendra Thakurdeen and Shameer Khan.
Edinburgh has proven themselves over and over again to be no walkover. In their line up, they have the evergreen Raid Ally, Danny David, Sasenarine Sukhdeo, Shafiq Khan and Zaheer Hussain.
All matches bowl off at 09:30 hours.
