The seventh Day of Interaction for 2011 organized by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport / National Sports Commission and the Regional Administration, Region # 3 will be held at the Goed Fortuin Community Centre Ground tomorrow.
Some six hundred plus athletes and officials from fourteen Neighbourhood Democratic Councils are expected to participate in a number of sport activities in the West Demerara Community.
Athletes will compete at Softball Cricket (male and female), Table Tennis, Volleyball, Circle Tennis, Domino, Football, Draughts and Chess.
A March Past by athletes and officials and remarks by Regional Chairman, Mr. Julius Faeber, Director of Sport, Mr. Neil Kumar and Hon Dr. Frank Anthony, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport will highlight the anticipated impressive Opening Ceremony. Special prizes will be given to the contingent with the largest turn out, the best banner and the best uniformed.
There will be adequate police and medical presence throughout the day. The selling and or consumption of alcohol will not be allowed at the venue before or during the activities. Persons present will have the opportunity to talk with the medical team and have tests done.
At the completion of the competitions, trophies and other prizes will be presented to winning individuals, teams and communities.
Sports gear and equipment will also be distributed to Clubs, Communities for the development of sports in the region.
