A Cove and John, East Coast Demerara fisherman is now homeless as fire completely flattened his premises on Thursday evening last.
According to reports, the fire started at around 20:00 hours at a house located at Oil Mill Street, Cove and John. The building was occupied 35-year-old Nandkumar Sarjoo. Kaieteur News understands that at the time of the incident the man was highly intoxicated and was said to have been cooking.
It was not clear what actually started the fire but after persons close by saw the blaze the fire service was summoned and the response was prompt. However, by the time the firemen arrived the entire one-storey building had been burnt flat. The matter is being investigated.
