With just a few days left before race day, preparation is moving apace for the grand one day horse race meet organized by the Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club and Sports Facilities (RCMTC&SF) slated for Sunday September 25 at the Club’s track Alness Corentyne Berbice.
Dubbed as a Keep fit Sprint event where none of the races will be over 1200M.
The organizers are using this event to get the horses back in shape after a hectic two months of racing and a one month layoff. The track is one of the best in the country and with the present dry weather prevailing in the country a number of records are expected to fall. All of the top stables including Habibulla, Elcock, Sheriff, Singh, Jumbo Jet, Rumours, Asrafalli, Jagroop, Deroop, Jagdeo and Crawford have entered horses for the meet.
So far over 50 horses have already taken entry with a number of new imports among the line up as most of the big stables putting their horses in the race and a riveting day of racing is anticipated.
Eight races are listed on the day’s cards which features a number of highly anticipated events. Some of the horses entered so far are Majestic, Delmur Gold, The Bailiff, Dubai Duchess, Face The Music, Goal Plated, Work Force, Celebration Love, Damascus Dream, Momzelle, Miracle Run, South Sea, Prado’s Gold, Zeolona, Bio Fuel, Foolish Pleasure, Sporting Time, Cutting Crystal, Black Water, Porridge, Black Flash, Dream Girl, Bad Romance, Golden Reprise, Simba and Easy Touch. Red Cloud, Apostle, Infinity, Its my time, Royal Time, Extra heat, Royal Salute, Miami Vice, Try Again, Bounty Flyer, Cash Connection, JD Junior among others.
The top race for the day is for the horses classified E1 & Lower which is sponsored by Ansa McAl Guyana Limited with the winner set to take home $300,000 and trophy over 1200M.
The 3yrs old race for Guyana and West Indies Bred Horses classified G1 and lower over 1200M for a top prize of $250,000 and trophy.
The G1 & Lower race is another 1200M event with winnings set at $200,000 and trophy.
The first two year old event is for Horses Bred and Born in Guyana and the West Indies with the winning prize set at $200,000 and trophy also over 1200M.
The second two year old race is for Guyana Bred horses with the winner getting $170,000 and trophy over 1100M.
The H3 & Lower event has a winning purse of $170,000 with the distance being 1200M.
There is a race for I1with the pole position taking being set at $140,000 and is another 1200M event. The final event planned for the day is for horses classified J, K&L with first prize of $70,000 and also over 1200M.
Top individual performers including champion and runner up Jockeys, top stable and trainers will be presented with accolades compliments of Businessman Ramesh Sunich of the Trophy Stall Bourda Market and the Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club and Sports Facilities.
