Other attractions to highlight event
Courts Guyana Inc., the company that will host the second largest 10km Road Race on the local calendar to-date, has added a few other attractions to what will definitely be a mega sports event tomorrow morning at the company’s Main Street Branch.
Following the race, which has attracted the crème de le crème in long distance running, there will be several attractions for patrons and the public. Courts’ Marketing Assistant, Kester Abrams has said that these mechanisms are geared at enhancing the event.
“After the big race on Sunday (tomorrow), the Courts stores will be opened to celebrate their 18th Anniversary at all Branches; Main Street and Parika will be opened from 8am-4pm and the other Branches will be opened from 10am-2pm,” Abrams told the newspaper. According to Abrams, there will face painting exercises, inflated castles for children and tons of games inside the store. There will also be a cake-sticking ceremony with Stereo Sonics bringing the vibes throughout the various attractions that are planned.
Competitors, patrons and the public therefore have an opportunity to bring out the entire family to the event that will be organised in a Fun Day setting. There will also be an offer as customers can receive 18 percent off selected items in the store.
Abrams informed this newspaper that 18 customers will be winning $18,000 during this month, so tomorrow represents a significant moment for those customers to cash in on not only the race, but on the various offers of the store during its anniversary.
The winners of the 10km Road Race in the male and female senior categories will run away with a whopping $100,000. The second place finisher will get $80,000; third place $60,000 and fourth place $40,000. The fifth place finisher will go home with $20,000.
Trophies will accompany all prizes. The prizes in the Masters category are $60,000, $40,000 and $20,000 respectively for first, second and third.
The Masters’ category is for competitors who are Over-40 years old. There will also be a junior category for U-20 athletes.
The race gets underway at 6am with the Guyana Police Force controlling the race route while the First Aid will be on hand to ensure a smooth and incident-free race. Banks DIH has also come on board with its Tropical Mist Water and Powerade brands.
