Banks DIH Limited Aqua Water Cycling Race set for this Sunday in Berbice

The Flying Ace Cycling club of Berbice will be running off their previously postponed cycling event tomorrow, Sunday September 18, in the ancient county of Berbice. The race, which is sponsored by Banks DIH, was previously planned for Sunday August 28, but according to Coordinator Randolph Roberts, was postponed at the last moment due to the police not giving the organizer permission, due to some difference relating to the payment of the police.
The event, which is an annual one, is dubbed the Banks DIH Limited Aqua Water cycling road race and is for Cyclist of the club only, covering a distance of 25 miles.
The riders are expected to pedal off at 09:00 hrs from in front of the Banks DIH Limited Branch at Main and Peter D’Aguiar Street New Amsterdam to the NO 35 village and then back to the place of origin.
There will be four categories for the cyclist; one for Open riders, another for juniors, while the other two are for juveniles and female cyclists.
All the cyclists are expected to cover the same 25 mile distance with the females having a five minutes head start. Prizes will be awarded to the first six cyclists to cross the finishing line, first junior, first three juveniles and the top two females. The riders will also compete for 8 prime prizes.
Banks DIH Berbice Regional Manager, Mr. Reginald Matthews is expected to send the riders on their way, while he and staff will be at the finish to distribute prizes at the end of the event. National Junior Cycling champion Neil Reece and top female Rider Marica Dick will be a part of the action.
