– New Company Ignite introduced
The Management Committee of the 2011 Kares Engineering/Bushy Park Sawmills T10 Cricket Competition on Saturday presented the winners in the various categories with their prizes during a presentation ceremony at the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC).

Headlining the presentations were the Pitbulls team that collected a whopping $1M for winning the senior male category of the competition. Invaders XI collected half of that amount the losing finalist in the inaugural nation-wide competition.
Christopher Barnwell was adjudged Man-of-the-Series and got a motorcycle. Derwin Christian also got a motorcycle for his Man-of-the-Match performance in the final. Three motorcycles were up for grabs with Mike’s Wellwoman’s, Victoria Bacchus collecting the other.
Mike’s Wellwoman collected $500,000 for winning the female category while Trophy Stall Angels got $250,000 as the losing finalist. L’Aventure Secondary won the female schools’ category while J.C Chandisingh Secondary won the male schools’ version.
The top performers from both L’Aventure and J.C Chandisingh received one lap top each. The schools also received $200,000 that will go toward a project of their choice and a trophy. The tournament was the largest local tapeball competition in history.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Kares Engineering and Bushy Park Sawmills, Radesh Pameshwar told the media during his brief remarks on Saturday that all the prizes in next year’s edition of the competition will be doubled.
“We are targeting 1500 teams next year. I am very optimistic that we will have a much bigger and better tournament in 2012. I am very happy with the reception of this tournament and I can assure you that we are taking this very seriously,” Pameshwar said.
He informed that plans for the next edition of the event are already underway since the Management Committee has taken the initial attempt as a learning exercise. Pameshwar admitted that mistakes were made but promised that they would not recur.
“I want to personally and publicly congratulate all the winning teams. We will only be playing the four finals at the National Stadium next year and we have other areas that we have agreed on will have to improve,” he told team representatives and the media.
Pameshwar thanked the media for their support, adding that the Kares Engineering and Bushy Park Sawmills T10 Cricket Competition is here to stay. He said that the tapeball version of the sport had to catch on and now that it has, it will be massive in the future.
Meanwhile, at the same occasion, Ignite an entity that supplies and brands tee-shirts, caps, pens, fliers and tickets was introduced.
According to a source close to the new entity, they work closely with promoters of sporting events, supplying most of the related work that a promotion would need which also includes transportation, TV ads and accommodation and the Company is located in Bel Air Village.
The source also added that they have been involved in the sponsorship of sporting events as well and are looking forward to playing a more meaningful role in the development of sports locally.
It was also revealed that the quality of work and the cost are comparable or even cheaper than suppliers anywhere in the Caribbean and the USA.
