46 Masjids nationwide to battle for over $600,000

Hajjin Zeleena Rafeek Memorial Inter Jamaat T10 KO softball cricket

The inaugural Hajjin Zeleena Rafeek Memorial countrywide Inter Jamaat Ten10 knock-out softball cricket competition sponsored by RAF’s Variety Store and organised by the Muslim Youth Organization (MYO) of Guyana is set to get underway today (September 11) at various grounds around the country.
The leading Ten10 teams in the Land of Many Waters will be vying for over $600,000 in cash and other incentives in this competition which is being done on this wide scale for the first time by the MYO.
The competition has attracted 46 Masjids which have been divided into five (5) zones as follows:
Zone A (Essequibo) – Bartica, Wakenaam, Leguan, Aurora, Fairfield, Adventure/Johanna Cecelia, Affaiance, Lima and Anan Regina.
Zone B (Berbice) – Yakusari/Black Bush Polder, Fyrish A, Fyrish B, Skeldon, De Edward, Cotton Tree, Bush Lot, Rose Hall and Albion.
Zone C (Georgetown/East Coast) – Dundee, Good Hope, LBI A, LBI B, Ogle, MYO, Queenstown, Unity, Enmore Estate, Old Mosque, New Mosque, Plaisance, Success and Turkeyen.
Zone D (West Bank/West Coast) – La Grange, Winsor Forest A, Winsor Forest B, Bell West Canal # 2, Blankenburg, Cornelia Ida, Ladystein and Wales/Sisters Village.
Zone E (East Bank) – Land of Canaan, Grove, Diamond, Farm A, Farm B and Farm C.
The first match of the competition will take place at the Muslim Youth Organization Ground, Woolford Avenue, Thomas Lands, Georgetown between Success and Dundee Jamaats from 09:00hrs.
A keen contest is expected as both teams are hyped up for this encounter. Meanwhile, the competition sponsor is expected to be on hand for Sunday’s opening game.
