Kares Engineering / Bushy Park Sawmills T10 Tapeball Cricket Competition
– J.C. Chandisingh, L’Aventure capture school titles
– Shaggy delivers magical performance
Just as expected, the star-studded Georgetown Pitbulls-sponsored by American Exchange Barber Shop easily steamrolled Invaders XI by 42 runs to capture the Men’s final in the inaugural Kares Engineering / Bushy Park Sawmills T10 Tapeball Cricket Competition which concluded on Sunday evening, at the National Stadium.
In the women’s final, Mike’s Wellwoman, also produced an efficient performance in their clash against Trophy Stall Angels, before cruising to a comfortable 19 runs win.
In the Schools categories, (Boys) – Berbice’s J.C. Chandisingh beat St. Rose’s High School by 6 wickets, while in the Girls Division, L’Aventure crushed IPE Diva’s XI by a whopping 78 runs.
Played before a somewhat disappointing crowd that gradually built up as the sun begun to set, Pitbulls loaded with a plethora of players to have don national colours batted first and compiled a formidable Pitbulls 95-6 with former West Indies youth player and current member of the national 20/20 squad hitting a shot-filled top-score of 22, while West Indies selectee Derwin Christian supported with 21 not out, Suresh Budhu made 14 and Robin Bacchus 13.
Chris Sookram took 2-11 bowling for Invaders.
In their turn at the crease, Invaders never looked like challenging the runs and were eventually restricted to 53-9 when the overs expired.
Christian returned with the ball to grab 2-1.
Earlier, Pitbulls beat Albion by 16 runs.
Pitbulls made 79 with Derwin Christian 25 and Christopher Barnwell 17, being the principal contributors.
For Albion, Doodnauth Lalbehari 2-17, Ramnarine Chattergoon 2-13 and Harrinarine Chattergoon 2-14 were the pick of the bowlers.
Albion replied with 63-5.

In the Women’s final, Mike’s Wellwoman reached 72-9 off the allotted overs with Victoria Bacchus striking 30 and Onicka Wallerson 18.
Kavita Yadram bagged 3-10, while Latoya Toney 2-14 and Angela Waldron 2-17 supported admirably.
Trophy Stall chasing 73 for victory could only muster 53-9 when the overs ended.
Monica Seales top-scored with 13.
Joann Vansertima with 2-5 and Prudence Williams 2-7 were the pick of the bowlers.

The senior teams received $1million (Men) and $500,000 (Women) respectively, while the school winners collected $200,000 to be used for special projects.
The presentation of prizes will be done at a later date.
Meanwhile, the after show that featured Grammy award winner Shaggy was well received as the Jamaican reggae artiste entertained the fans with many of his popular hits, especially the women who thronged backstage to get a photo op and autograph signing by the popular Caribbean singer and his back up Rayvon.
It was a good reprieve for the fans who had endured a long day to watch some of the exciting matches that unfolded on the final day of competition.
The Hunter, Rikki Jai, Melobugz Band, and Mahendra Ramkellowan also delivered impressive performances that crowned a good day for those that attended the activities.
