Dear Editor,
I had the good fortune to visit Guyana from Canada for 20 days from August 11. I was surprised to find such a rich and naturally gifted country.
One sad thing I noticed was the Immigration Officials at the Airport. They were so professionally inexperienced that it made you smirk at them. I was in a wheelchair and still the people in immigration refused to attend to me.
The person who was pushing the wheelchair had the courtesy to ask the Immigration Officer to attend to me but was carelessly brushed off and asked to wait in line. It is not a matter of being upset with that officer but Immigration Officers are the first face of a country that you see, and it was not good. They should be smiling and presenting a good first impression.
