Dear Editor,
Linden is at the threshold of economic downfall. Many of our young people are struggling to obtain a proper job. When will we do something to stop this agony? There is a lot of talk that people should qualify themselves to walk the streets or to go the gold mines. Many of our brothers who are qualified can make a great contribution to the economy that will benefit the country, but they are not allowed to do so. Lindeners need jobs and good ones.
What has been happening in Region 10 for the past eight years? Lindeners have been losing meaningful jobs which are being replaced with grass cutting and digging of drains while over sixty percent of young people are out of jobs. As for those employees who were sent home because of “redundancy” and are fifty-five years and over, they are truly redundant because they are past the age of employment and no one will give them a job. They can only get security jobs. You can hear the Government talking of how many roads and schools are refurbished or built, but there are no jobs to empower Lindeners economically.
The contracts for the Linden Hospital complex and the building of stalls at Wismar Market were given to contractors out of Linden. In spite of all these problems, the crime rate at Linden is below that of many districts that are not encountering these hardships. It is time for us to understand our position with this government.
