The Guyana National Cycling Team left for Suriname yesterday to participate in the Annual Bigi Bergi Four Stage Road Race which is scheduled for tomorrow and Sunday. This race is organized by Team Presto.
Both the Manager, Brian Allen, and the coach, Wayne De Abreu, expressed confidence in the team. They said the team is well balanced and they expect the team to be in the winner’s circle.
Although the team is somewhat weakened by the absence of Geron Williams, due to a death in his family, with the likes of Alonzo Greaves, Robin Persaud, Mark Lewis and Enzo Matthews, the team will definitely be vying for the Gold. This race will also serve as a prep for the more recognized and much more competitive Caribbean Cycling Championship to be held in Jamaica from September 16 – 18, where Guyana will be at its full strength with the inclusion of Warren ‘40’ Mc Kay and Geron Williams.
The Guyana Team to Suriname is captained by Robin Persaud.
The Guyana Cycling Federation would like to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all those who supported their Cycling and Fun Day activity last Saturday and also apologise for the delay experienced in the serving of the lunch.
