The Berbice Cricket Board as part of its effort to expose the younger players to a higher level of cricket has organised a series of 40-Overs Cricket matches between the Berbice Under-21 Team and their counterparts from Georgetown and East Coast.
The matches would be played on a home and away basis and would be played for trophies named after outstanding players from the areas.
Chairman of the Berbice Cricket Board Special Events Committee, Hilbert Foster who spearheaded the Under-21 Team Project, stated that the Berbice Board as part of its developmental programme was determined to expose the Under-21 players to a high level of cricket, to assist them in their development to take over from the established Berbice Players in the future.
Last year the Berbice Cricket Board had formed a Berbice “A” Team but with the legal dispute in Demerara, would be unable to do so this year.
The Junior Selection Committee of the Berbice Cricket Board met on Tuesday last and selected the following players to commence training for possible selection on the Under-21 Team:
Harrinarine Chattergoon, Dominic Rikhi, Eon Hooper, Seon Hetmyer, Jonathan Foo, Anthony Bramble, Joemal La Fleur, Chandrashekar Arjune, Sherwin Mc Pherson, Keion De Jesus, Keon Joseph, Shawn Pereira, Loyydel Lewis, Gudakesh Motie-Kanhai, Zaheer Hussain, Clinton Pestano, Keyron Fraser, Raffiel Estriado, Mark Lionel and Ameer Rahaman.
