A boy spend a whole two weeks in de jail because he stick up he middle finger when de motorcade carrying Bar-Rat pass by. De boy was selling water because de water Irfaat giving people smelling like urine and taste even wuss.
Up comes de motorcade and de driver blowing like he mad. De road narrow and car park both sides suh de driver had problems pulling over. De boy finger was scratching he and he put it outside de window fuh ketch some breeze.
One of de motorcade people see it and order de police fuh stop de car. Dem drag out de li’l boy and march he to de police station. De cops hear that was Bar-Rat motorcade and dem refuse to listen to de li’l boy. Dem drag he to court pun a charge that couldn’t even hold water and because he didn’t have a lawyer de magistrate hear was Bar-Rat and remand de boy to prison.
When de boy went back to court and de lawyer challenge de court dem police change de charge and de magistrate send de boy back to jail. De prosecutor tell de magistrate how de finger was too stiff. Dem boys want to know if a man finger stiff if he got to go to jail.
Well dem boys decide that dem gun stick up a stiff foot. If a stiff middle finger is a crime then dem want fuh know what gun happen wid a stiff middle foot.
De li’l boy lawyer appeal and when de matter reach de High Court de judge laugh. He loose de boy pun $5,000 bail. But de thing that got dem boys worried is that when de lawyer ask a question de police change de charge to one of public nuisance. Who care if bar-Rat see a stiff finger? That can’t be a public nuisance.
But this is Guyana and when Bar-Rat faat de whole country does bow down and respond ‘Yes Sir.” That is why de li’l boy get charge. All over de world people does show de same sign to police, politicians and even to dem friends. Nowhere in de world people ever get charge fuh that. But this is Guyana.
Dem boys begging people to avoid belching or faating in public because dem gun get lost away in jail once Bar-Rat deh round or ridin’ through de town.
Talk half. Lef half.
