The Berbice Cricket Board for the remainder of 2011 would be involved in over 30 off the field activities while hosting numerous cricket tournaments at all level. Chairman of the Berbice Cricket Board Special Events Committee Hilbert Foster disclosed the plans at a Press Conference hosted by the Board at its office in Cheddi Jagan Street, New Amsterdam, Berbice.
Foster, who is also the Berbice Cricket Board Public Relations Officer, stated that for the first eight months of 2011, the Board hosted 50 off the field activities while completing several tournaments at the Under-13, Under-15, Under-19, Female and Second Division Levels. For the remaining four months of the year, the Berbice Cricket Board would be hosting a massive feeding of the needy programme to mark its 72nd Anniversary, Senior Players Charity Programme, Devendra Bishoo Trust Fund, Junior Captaincy Seminar, Wicketkeeper Clinic, Essay Competition for school children and Television Quiz Programmes.

The Berbice Cricket Board would also be donating water pitchers to some First Division clubs in the county, the Senior and Junior Elite Training Programmes would continue while clinics would be organised for junior batsmen, spinners, fast bowlers and female players.
Other plans for the remainder of 2011 include a massive Christmas Charity Programme, Publication of 4th Annual Magazine, production of Anti-drugs Television Commercial and year end Television Review Programme. Visits would also be made to the different sub-associations of the Berbice Cricket Board to listen to the concerns of the membership and to take on board any recommendation that is made.
Foster disclosed that next week the Berbice Cricket Board under the Senior Players Charity programme would be donating three Televisions sets worth $100, 000 to orphanages in Port Mourant, Chesney and New
Amsterdam. The funds were donated to the Berbice Cricket Board by the Berbice Universal Titans from their winning funds from the recently held Hits & Jams Tournament.
On the Cricket field, the Berbice Cricket Board would be hosting the following tournaments for the rest of 2011: Ricks & Sari Agro Industries Under-13, Tenelec Inc Under-15, Memorex/Leslie Amsterdam Memorial Under-17, Spready’s Bakery Under-19, Republic Bank Inter-zone Under-17, Peter Lewis Under-21, Universal First Division 20/20, Universal Female 20/20, Ramcharitar Construction Services First Division 50-Over Knock-out, Tenelec Inc 50-Overs First Division, while the Berbice “A” Team would also be involve in several matches.
Foster urged all members of the Berbice Cricket Board to continue working as a team to ensure that the outstanding work of the Board continues and to make sure that the Berbice Cricket Board surpasses its 2011 target of 75 off the field activities. To date the Berbice Cricket Board has completed a total of 53 of these activities.
