Like a good neighbour, Giftland Office Max yesterday donated $300,000 worth in haversacks and stationery to 160 school-aged Rosemary Lane (Tiger Bay) children.
This is the second year the company is making it possible for youths to start the new school year equipped for the classroom. The items were distributed at the company’s Water Street location.
According to Jade Beepat, Human Resources Manager, it is the desire of the company to see the Tiger Bay community develop.
Contributing to the children’s education, she said, will enable change to occur within the households. As such, this will be an annual charity feature of Giftland Office Max.
Beepat revealed that the packages comprise exercise books, pair of scissors, play dough, colouring books, sharpeners, rulers and paste.
The children and their parents were also treated to a snack provided by Escape Café, located at Diamond, East Bank Demerara.
In addition, to contributing school items, Giftland Office Max, during the Christmas season brings Santa Clause to Tiger Bay and distributes toys to the little ones.
