Kares Engineering/Bushy Park Sawmills Ten/10 Cricket
The best male and female teams in the inaugural Kares Engineering and Bushy Park Sawmills Ten/10 Cricket competition ensured that their names were among the Final Four teams yesterday at the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) Ground, Bourda.
The impressive crowd that turned up at the venue got a glimpse of the fireworks expected when the semi-finals and finals are held next Sunday at the National Stadium. At least Guyana’s best tapeball teams secured their places in the Final Four.
In the Women’s competition, 4R Lioness booked their semi-final place when they defeated All-Star Conquerors by 24 runs after posting a total of 102-6 and reducing All-Star to 78-8 with Anita Ramdeo taking 2-15 from her allotted two overs.
Chandani Mahadeo made 40 that included four sixes and two fours, while Lushann Toussaint contributed 20 inclusive of three boundaries and a six for 4R Lioness. Annazette Carew showed some resistance for All-Star with 29 that was laced with four boundaries.
Mike’s Wellwoman then joined 4R in the penultimate round with a comfortable nine-wicket win against Rising Stars. Mike’s Wellwoman bowled out Rising Stars for 56 then made 59-1 with Abena Parker scoring 37 not out that included three sixes and three fours.
Trophy Stall XI also qualified among the last four teams in the women’s contest with an easy win against Karibee Strikers, who made 75 all out batting first, Tenissa Leonard top scoring with 28 runs.
Nikita Toney took 3-14 for Trophy Stall, who then made 76-6 from 8.3 overs for the four-wicket win. June Ogle Thomas scored 30 runs that included six boundaries, and Vanta Yadram supported with 19 runs for Trophy Stall in the chase.
Rose Hall Town Metro was the other female team to qualify for the Final Four with a walkover from Gas XI. They joined 4R Lioness, Mike’s Wellwoman and Trophy Stall XI in the semi-final round. The Guyana Softball League will release the fixture this week.
In the Men’s competition, Invaders posted 114-5, batting first then reduced Firelinks to 83-7 for a 31-run win. Amir Mohamood picked up 2-15, while Khaimraj Ramsundar grabbed 2-29 to help reduce Firelinks in the daunting chase.
Earlier, Ganesh Narine made 61 that included five sixes and four boundaries for Invaders, while Harrinarine Bissoondyal scored 26 that included two boundaries and a six for Invaders. Simtiaz Ali scored 26 and Ariel Hussain 25 for Firelinks.
The star-studded Pitbulls line-up also went through to the last four when they compiled 123-4 with Trevon Griffith smashing 22 runs off the last over, and then reduced Cotton Field Wild Oats to 80-5, picking up what became an easy 43-run win.

Guyana and West Indies batsman, Christopher Barnwell scored 47 runs that included four fours and three sixes for the Pitbulls. Derwin Christian lashed three sixes and two fours for 30 runs while Griffith’s 22 included three sixes.
Albion then set itself on a collision course with Pitbulls when they whipped Young Warriors by eight wickets. Young Warriors made 53 all out and Albion reached their target in four overs, losing two wickets.
Hemendra Ramdial scored 21 runs for Albion while Harrienarine Chattergoon added 15 runs for the eventual winners.
The last quarterfinal game was contested between Dyna’s Bravados and Cotton Tree Die Hard but the results of that game are unofficial pending an investigation into the validity of both teams since protests were launched at both ends.
