The Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) recently made a presentation of jerseys to the University of Guyana which is to be used by students who will be participating in sports activities organised by the institution.
Making the donation on behalf of the GOA was Treasurer Garfield Wiltshire, who presented the gift to Assistant Registrar Students Welfare Daniella King in the presence of UG Sports Officer Lavern Fraser-Thomas, during a simple ceremony that was conducted in her office.
King, speaking on behalf of the University thanked the GOA for its kind gesture, promising to made good use of the gift, while adding that she hope it is the beginning of a solid relationship between the two parties.
The University which has been somewhat unresponsive in terms of sports participation for a few years now is attempting to change course under the new officer, who is someone that possesses vast experience both as a former athlete and as an administrator.
Fraser-Thomas, who previously worked at the National Sports Commission as a Sports Organiser, is promising a revival which will see mass participation in a wide variety of sports at the Campus.
