GDF dominate second round of the Rugby Seven’s League

Guyana Defence Force controlled the National Park Rugby ground yesterday in the second round of the Rugby Seven’s League after decimating their opponents with two uninterrupted wins.
Guyana Defence Force (GDF) was in a no nonsense mood as they overpowered the Yamaha Caribs and Hornets. Yamaha Caribs were defeated 10-5 in their first game against the powerhouse, and Hornets 10-7.
Opening the account with a tri on the third minute in second half for GDF was Avery Corbin, a forward player. Lloyd Hudson assisted with another tri on the sixth minute to close GDF’s eventual winning account as Vallon Adams was the only lucky player to register a tri for Yamaha Caribs.
Hornets were next to be beaten as GDF continued their winning spree as winger Breon Walks, bolted through the aggressive Hornets to register two tries with the first on the second minute of the first half and the second on the fourth minute of the second half.  Hornets’ forward player, Elwin Chase registered the first successful conversion along with a tri on the last minute of game to leave Hornets 7 and GDF 10.
The final match for the second round of this tournament was played between Yamaha Caribs and Hornets at 17:23hrs. This match was proven to be the most aggressive one for the day as two players, were given blood sub cards.
Despite the antagonistic plays on the field, Yamaha Caribs proved that they were stronger than Hornets, who won all their matches in the first round of the tournament.
Hornets scored 24 with the contribution of Peabo Hamilton’s two tries along with Lance Adonis and Troy Bascom a tri apiece. Ryan Gonsalves registered two conversions.
Walter George and Vallon Adams cataloged one tri each in the fifth and sixth minute of the first and second half respectively. Kereon Williams assisted with two tries while Theodore Henry had three successful conversions.
Guyana Defence Force concluded the day with four points after claiming two consecutive victories ahead of their opponents.
