Kares Engineering / Bushy Park Sawmills T10 Tapeball Cricket Competition
The finalists in the schoolboys and girls categories of the inaugural Kares Engineering / Bushy Park Sawmills T10 Tapeball Cricket Competition have been decided after the completion of the Super Sixteen stage which was played yesterday, at the Ministry of Education ground on Carifesta Avenue.
In the girls division, L’Aventure led by a superb spell of bowling from Satywattie Sugrim, who grabbed 6-0 off 2 overs including a hat-trick propelled her team to an impressive ten wickets win over Shivita Business College in their semi-final clash, while IPE Diva’s XI drew a bye into the final where the two will battle for the top prize.
In the Boys category, St. Rose’s beat Charity Secondary by 32 runs to reach the championship round, while J.C. Chandisingh defeated the highly touted New Amsterdam Technical Institute (NATI) by 8 wickets to make it to the finals.
In results of semi-final action in the Girls division: L’Aventure dismissed Shivita Business College for a paltry 17 in 5 of the allotted 10 overs with Sugrim bagging 6-0 including a hat-trick.
In reply, they knocked off the required runs, ending on 18-0 in 1.4 overs.
IPE Diva’s XI drew a bye into the final.
Earlier, Shivita Business College won by a walkover from Royal All Stars.
In other action, L’Aventure beat Corentyne Comprehensive High School by 9 wickets.
Taking first strike, Corentyne Comprehensive made 55-4 off the allotted overs with Taneisha Kurt hitting 18; M. Alfred took 2-6 from 2 overs.
In reply, L’Aventure reached 56-1 with Tishana Douglas stroking a top-score of 30.
IPE Diva’s XI defeated Sans Souci Primary by 7 wickets.
IPE Diva’s XI reduced Sans Souci to a moderate 68-3 when the overs expired.
They then overhauled the target, reaching 69-3 with Janel Johnson unbeaten on 18.
In the Boys category, Charity Sec defeated Leonora All Stars by 6 wickets.
Leonora All Stars were bowled out for 43 in 6 overs. Clinton Kellowan picked up 2-3 from 2 overs, while K. Tobin captured 2-7 off 2.
Charity in reply, reached 44-4 in 5.3 overs. Clinton Bacchus contributed 20 not out.
New Amsterdam Technical Institute registered a 16-run win over Leguan Young Blood.
NATI compiled 110-2 with Mark Jackson 36 not out and Trinson Bynoe 31 not out, being the principal scorers.
Leguan Young Blood in their response made 94-5 when the overs expired.
Christopher McCurdy hammered an undefeated 41.
St. Rose’s then beat IPE All Stars by 16 runs.
St. Rose’s made 79 all out in 9.5 overs with A. Rahim 18 and D. Mohamed 13 the main scorers.
IPE All Stars in their turn at the crease could only muster 63-7 when the overs finished. D. Mohamed took 2-7 from 2 overs.
In semi-final action- St. Rose’s beat Charity by 32 runs.
St. Rose’s made 98-7 with Akash Rahim 30. Andy Stoll and C. Tobin took two wickets apiece.
Charity in reply, reached 66-7. C. Bacchus made 14. C. Nauth, D. Mohamed and T. Sheepersaud each took two wickets.
J.C. Chandisingh eased past NATI by 8 wickets.
NATI made 60-7 with Karran Singh taking 2-13 from 2 overs.
J.C Chandisingh in reply, made 61-2 in 7.4 overs. Imran Islamadeen stroked 29 and he was supported by Shilindra Shameer 12 not out.
The four teams head to the finals which are scheduled for next Sunday at the National Stadium.
