The Rising Sun Turf Club will be abuzz with action tomorrow when the Club in association with the PPP/C stage a one day horserace meet with close to $10M at stake at the club’s track Rising Sun Turf club, Arima Park West Coast Berbice.
With Beverage Giants Banks DIH Limited and the Mingles Sound machine string Band onboard Turfites are in for a grand time. This being another of the series of Multi million dollars horserace meets staged recently. 11 races are listed on the days programme. The latest check with the organizers showed that over 100 horses have been entered for the Clash of Champions meeting.
Banks DIH Limited has once again taken the lead with close to $2M sponsorship in the feature B class event with the first prize standing at sumptuous $1M and the President Cup with the distance being 1600M. Another crowd pleader is anticipated since none of the horses have been able to dominate this event for the year so far. Some of the horses entered are Champtress, Donut Prince, Grande Roja, The Message, Zelik, Miss Orientate, Fairy Landing, Marathon Man, Tiger Prospect, Majestic and Wad Luck.
There is a special race for America Bred horses that have never won a race in Guyana. The Event is classified C3 and Lower non winners and fetched an encouraging $600,000 first prize and trophy over a distance of 1100M. The line up in this race reads Tiger Prospect, Star Tracer, Wad a Luck, On the Rock with Salt, Miss Karina, Stormy Flame, Native Contester, Exporter, Who is on the Case, Gold Finger and Get Set Go.
The E Class event has a winner’s prize of $500,000 and Trophy available with the horses set to race over a distance of 1600M. Set to go are Got To go, Night Crescendo, Ferry Landing, Pinch D Cash, The Bailiff, Majestic, The Gap, Appealing harvest, Face The Music and South sea.
The three year old event for Horses Bred and Born in Guyana and the West Indies has the likes of Swinging Easy, Technology, Celebrating Love, Big Impact, Damascus Dream, Captain Crook and Work Force competing for the $500,000 and Trophy over 1600M.
The G and lower showdown will see the winner galloping off with $400,000 and Minister of Youth Sports and Culture trophy over 1100M will see Gabriel’s Gold, The Gap, Face the Music, South Sea, Damascus Dream, Prado Gold, Zelona, Maya, Top of the Line, Miracle Run, La Ruffian and Work Force.
The race for horses bred and born in the West Indies an Guyana will see the winner racing away with a $400,000 purse and trophy over 1100M. Among those in the lineup are Serenity, Times have change, Rock Sonia, Something Stylish, Happy Choice and Storm in a tea cup.
The two year old race for horses born in Guyana has a winner’s money of $300,000 and trophy over 1100M. Expected to compete are Have a nice time, Third World, and Blessing among others.
There is an H class race with the winning money set at $220,000 and trophy and is a 1600M event. Prospector’s Pride, Royal Champion, Extra heat, Pixie Fire, Princess Renuka, Dream Girl, Royal Salute and Savion are among those in the lineup.
There is an event for animals classified ‘I’ and lower and will see the winner carting off $180, 000 with Savion, Apostle, Mona Lisa, Graphic and Infinity among others on show.
The other I class event is for those classified I3 and lower and those with one win. The winner of that race will run away with $140,000. No Body Knows, Mona Lisa, Try Again, Royal Time, Bounty Flyer Zebra and Royal Salute are set to run.
An L class race has been added to the day’s activity and has the pole position takings tagged at $80,000 over 1100M.
There will be trophies and other incentives at stake for the top jockeys and other outstanding individual performers, including top trainer and stables compliments of the Trophy Stall, Bourda Market and the organizers.
According to race coordinator Dennis Deroop, all systems are in place for the grand meet where Guyana number one string band, Mingles Sound machine, along with Banks DIH Beverages and Chester Fry Chicken among others will be in attendance for the during and after race entertainment.
There have also been tremendous improvements done to the Entire Rising Sun facilities. He is encouraging fans to come out early as the event will be grand.
Other major sponsors on board are Innovative and Balmic Construction, Cummings Electrical, Jumbo Jet Auto Supplies and Stables, Medirton Pharmaceuticals among others. The Race will be contested under the rules of the Rising Sun Turf Club. Bugle time is 12:00 hrs.
