The Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) male and female Sevens League is set to resume today, at the National Park Rugby ground.
In the Men’s category, Guyana Defence Force, Yamaha Caribs and Hornets Rugby will clash with each other for supremacy, while Hornets and Caribs females square-off.
Kick-off time is 15:00 hrs.
Meanwhile, Hornets dominated last Saturday’s league contest, winning both their games after narrowly defeating the Guyana Defence Force 10/7 in the first encounter and then easily putting away the Yamaha Caribs 24/0.
The Yamaha Caribs suffered equally at the hands of the GDF after being beaten 22-0.
The women’s sevens competition signals the commencement of preparations for the upcoming North American and Caribbean Association (NACRA) Caribbean Championships schedule to take place on November 12-13 in Barbados.
The men’s national sevens team for the NACRA Championships will be selected immediately following the PanAm Games.
The sevens league continues in preparation for the selection of the national team for the Pan American Games Rugby Sevens to take place in Guadalajara, Mexico from October 15-30, 2011.
The Union is also gearing to launch its 10-a-side ‘B’ competition next Wednesday which will exclude senior players contesting for a place in the national sevens.
Kick-off at 4.30p.m.
