Cummings Electrical Company Limited is currently mobilizing resources and installing wallaba poles for street lights on the Essequibo Coast Public Coast, Region Two, says Nigel Erskine, Traffic Road Safety Engineer of the Public Works Ministry.
Erskine revealed that Cummings Electrical signed two contracts totaling $23.6M on the July 13, last, for the installation of 176 street lights in certain sections along the Coast. The duration of the project is four months.
The contractor is expected to install 88 street lights from Queenstown to Taymouth Manor; and from Hampton Court to Walton Hall. The other 88 street lights will be installed from Supernaam to Goed Hope and Suddie.
Recently, 38 street lights were installed along the Essequibo Coast at Anna Regina, at a cost of $11M.
The Ministry also installed 358 street lights from Vreed-en-Hoop to Parika, Region Three; and also in Region Three 70 street lights from the Demerara Harbour Bridge to Canal Number One Polder.
A total of 768 street lights were erected on the East Bank Demerara, Region Four, from Providence to Timehri.
