Miss Guyana, Kara Lord, has arrived in São Paulo, Brazil, for the Miss Universe competition, which takes place on September 12.
Lord, an aspiring psychologist, arrived to the cold weather, and news reports quote her as asking for the Brazilian summer – which actually begins five months from now, leading pageant website Global Beauties, pointed out.

The pageant kicks off a series of worldwide events being hosted by Brazil. In addition to the global beauty event, Brazil is host to the 2014 FIFAWorld Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. With the city of São Paulo at centre stage, the pageant will take place at Credicard Hall, a prominent music theatre for the city.
The two-hour television event, comprising contestants representing approximately 90 countries, will see the beauties compete in three categories: swimsuit, evening gown and interview. In past years, worldwide distribution of the competition has topped nearly 190 countries and territories.
While in São Paulo, Lord will join the other contestants on numerous related commitments before the actual pageant night, which will air live on NBC, allowing Guyanese to see the event.
