Kares Engineering / Bushy Park Sawmills / GSL Tapeball Competition
Charity Secondary, St. Rose’s High, All Stars Conquerors, Royal All Stars, Mike’s Wellwoman, IPE All Stars were among the winners as play in the Kares Engineering / Bushy Park Sawmills / Guyana Softball League (GSL) 10 /10 Tapeball Cricket Competition continued with Super Sixteen action yesterday, at the GCC ground.
The other team to move into the quarter-finals set for weekend are IPE Divas, who won by walkover from Crystal Clear, while the games between Charity Secondary female and Zeelandia and Maria’s Pleasure and Abrams Creek Rebellers were abandoned after they failed to show up.
In the day’s full results: St. Rose’s High defeated Johanna Cecilia by seven wickets.
Taking first strike, Johanna Cecilia made 52-4 off the allotted overs with Raj Parbattie hitting a top-score of 21. Richard Gibbons took 3-8 off 2 overs.
St. Rose’s in reply, reached 53-3 in 5.3 overs with David Mohamed hammering 41.
Charity Secondary (male) then beat L’Aventure by 11 runs.
Charity compiled 94-3 through an enterprising 44 from Lourenzo Rodrigues.
L’Aventure in their turn at the crease was restricted to 83-6 when the overs expired. Vickram Sukhram remained unbeaten on 26.
Royal All Stars registered an easy 18 runs win over Arthurville Primary.
Batting first, Royal All Stars made 67 without loss with Rosana Austin hitting 28 not out and Seromanie Narace 21 not out.
Athrurville in reply, ended on 49-5. S. Harry made 13.
Capoey Queens went down to All Star Conquerors by eight wickets.
Capoey Queens batted first and were dismissed for 58 in 9.5 overs with Coretta Alves 13, being the principal contributor. Patricia Tello 3-5 off 2 overs and Allison Duncan 3-10 also from 2 were the chief wicket takers.
All Star Conquerors chasing a victory target of 59, closed on 60-2 in 4.2 overs.
Captain Lois Moseley with 25 and Annazette Carew 19, were the top scorers.
IPE All Stars beat Essequibo Islands Secondary by seven wickets.
Essequibo Islands Sec made 71-7.
IPE All Stars reached 73-3 in 8 overs. G. Debedin 26 not out and R. Zaman 13 were the principal scorers.
In the final game of the day, Mike’s Wellwoman cruised past Charity Emeralds by 114 runs.
Mike Wellwomen posted a mammoth 157-2 with Joann Van Sertima smashing a belligerent unbeaten 74, while K. Mentore 43 and Prudence Williams 22 not out, supported admirably.
Charity Emeralds was then corralled to 43-5.
Meanwhile, the Organisers have disclosed that tickets for the mega concert which will follow the finals to be played on September 4, at the National Stadium have been going fast and are advising all patrons desirous of attending the event to make their purchase early and avoid disappointment.
They are being sold at most of the popular outlets and fans are being asked to check the daily papers for more information.
Among the artistes expected to perform at the occasion are Grammy winner Shaggy, Riki Jai, Peter Ram, Mahendra Ramkellowan and a host of other local entertainers.
