India’s young singing sensation Sunidhi Chauhan, known for super hits such as “Desi Girl” and “Sheila Ki Jawani” will headline a Bollywood Diva concert at the end of October here in Guyana.
Added to the line-up are Bollywood stars Neha Dhupia and Riya Sen, who will be backed by the sensational Apsara dancers of Guyana. Choreographer Pratap Shetty will fly into Guyana to train the Aspara dancers.
Rakshanda, a model and television actress best known for a role on the popular soap Kasamh Se, will host and also be part of the show, which is being promoted by Lux Entertainment, made-up of overseas collaborators.
Sunidhi Chauhan, at just 28, has a number of hits to her credit.
She began singing at the age of four and was discovered by a local TV anchor. She gained recognition through a televised singing contest, Meri Awaz Suno, which she won, and made her entrance into playback singing with the Hindi film Shastra.
Her breakthrough was Ram Gopal Varma’s film Mast, in which she sang the hit song, “Ruki Ruki Si Zindagi.”
She has been nominated for several awards many of which she has won.
Chauhan is one of the few female singers of the present generation who has lent her voice for nearly every leading actress in the Indian entertainment industry, including Madhuri Dixit, Aishwarya Rai, Preity Zinta, Rani Mukerji, Kareena Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, Priyanka Chopra, Konkona Sen Sharma and more.
She has also sung for actresses of yesteryear cinema, such as Rekha.
She was the main singer who lent her voice for the comebacks of two leading Bollywood actresses: Kajol, in the movie Fanaa, and Madhuri Dixit, in Aaja Nachle.
