A minibus conductor, charged with obstruction and inflicting grievous bodily harm on a peace officer, was yesterday remanded to prison at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
It is alleged that on Tuesday, last (August 16) Curtis John, 19, of Urquhart Street, Georgetown, inflicted grievous bodily harm on Constable Fraser, a female police officer, acting in the execution of her duties.
It was further alleged that on the day of the incident at Cornhill Street, Georgetown, he also obstructed Constable Fraser.
The accused was represented by attorney at law Adrian Thompson who, in his bail application, stated that his client has no previous convictions and poses no risk of flight.
The prosecution objected to bail, citing that no special circumstances were presented to the court and also taking into consideration the seriousness of the offence.
The matter will be called again on October 26.
