David loses in first round of CRTTF Men’s Singles contest
-Guyanese expected to qualify for today’s knockout rounds
United States-based Guyanese table tennis player, Paul David, did not get the kind of start he had imagined in the 2011 Caribbean and Regional Table Tennis Federation (CRTTF) Championships when he lost in the first round of the Men’s Singles contest last night.
Trinidad and Tobago’s, Curtis Humphreys, stunned David in the preliminary round of the Men’s draw last night, placing him in a must-win situation in his next two games. Only two players will advance to the last 16 out of the eight groups of four/five players.
Up to Kaieteur Sport press time, the Men’s preliminary group contests reached the second round.

Both the Men’s and women’s competition went up to the round of 16 last night, according to the CRTTF schedule with the final knockout rounds to be played today.
Idi Lewis and Paul Meusa, on the Men’s team and Trenace Lowe and Michelle John, on the local women’s team looked certain last night of round of 16 places. Guyana is yet to win a gold medal as host of the 2011 Championships with only the singles event remaining.
