A fine allround performance by Royan McCall guided Affiance to victory over Gunners in the final of the Queenstown Development Association U-23 twenty 20 cricket competition played recently at Queenstown on the Essequibo Coast.
In the final which was witnessed by a fair size crowd, Affiance of Central Essequibo batted first and posted a respectable 142-7 off their allotted overs. Royan Mc Call led with 36, while Parmesh Parashutan contributed 28 as medium pacer Rajiv Manichand grabbed 3-20.
Gunners of North Essequibo in reply fell short by 12 runs after being bowled out for 130 in the penultimate over. Keron Seunarine top scored with 25 and Nimron Bahadur made 16. Medium pacers Rayburn Gordon 4-18 and Mc Call 3-22 did the damage with the ball for Affiance who collected a trophy and $20,000 for their efforts, while man of the match McCall was given $5,000.

$5,000 each for taking the most wickets, scoring the most runs and being the most valuable player in the tournament respectively.
At the presentation ceremony, Chairman of the Queenstown Development Association, Wendell Walcott, thanked the teams for participating in the competition and said it will be an annual event.
The other teams that took part were Zorg of South, Queenstown of Central and Titans of North Essequibo. (Zaheer Mohamed)
