The Guyana Cycling Federation will have their National Senior and Junior teams participating in Suriname from Saturday, September 3 to Sunday 4 in the Annual Bigi Bergi Race.
The Senior Team will comprise six (6) riders namely: Alonzo Greaves, Robin Persaud, Geron Williams, Enzo Matthews and Junior Nines, with the 6th Rider to be named later.
The Juniors will be Paul De Nobrega and Raynauth Jeffrey. Standbys are Kurt La Rose and Michael Benjamin. The Team will be managed by Brian Allen. The event will be a Four Stage Race including a 10Km Time Trials.
Other competing countries are Aruba, Curacao, French Guiana, Trinidad and Tobago, Team COCO (Miami) and Anguilla.
Meanwhile, the Federation will also send a strong contingent to the Senior Caribbean Cycling Championship to be held in Jamaica from September 16 to September 18.
The Team will comprise of 5 males and three females although the Guyana Cycling Federation is hoping to get this altered to six males and two females. Competition is expected to be of a very high standard as all the Caribbean nations will be sending their very best cyclists to these championships.
The Guyana Team will be managed by Brian Allen and Coached by Hector Edwards.
These championships will include both Road Races and Time trials.
The present Road Racing champions are Guadeloupe who captured the 1st three places in the Road Race at last year’s championships.
The Guyana Team would be selected from Warren McKay, Alonzo Greaves, Robin Persaud, Geron Williams, Enzo Matthews, Lear Nunes and Walter Grant –Stuart.
Females: Hazina Bharratt, who is the only confirmed female cyclists. The 2nd Female cyclists will be named later.
The Annual Caribbean Cycling Conference will be held on Friday, September 16 and Guyana will be represented by Hector Edwards and Brian Allen.
