Beauty and brains will be displayed tonight at the National Cultural Centre as the second annual Miss Jamzone International Beauty Pageant kicks off.
Delegates from around the Caribbean and South America, including Ms Guyana, will vie for the coveted crown among other wonderful prizes.
The 11 beauties vying for the “Miss Jamzone International 2011” crown flank the reigning queen, at centre.
At a press conference yesterday at the Princess Hotel, Coordinator for Hits and Jams Entertainment Inc., Kerwin Bollers, told the media that eleven beauties will be showcasing their beauty, brains and talent, tonight, at an event where the public will be given a taste of what they have to offer in the run-up to the crowning of the queen. This thrilling phase will begin at 20:00 hrs (8:00pm).
Yesterday, the contestants were given the opportunity to introduce themselves while encouraging persons to “come out and support” the contest.
The gorgeous girls expressed delight in taking part in the prestigious event, while some indicated that this was the first time their countries were participating.
They were also pleased at the hospitality being offered by the Guyanese society and spoke highly of the cuisine and cultural experiences that they have been exposed to during their sojourn.
This is the first leg of competition; the delegates will later contend in Swimsuit, Evening Gown and Cultural Presentation segments.
The finals will take place at the Splashmin’s Fun Park on Sunday, where contestants will be judged on their Fantasy Beach Wear, National Costume and the very important Question and Answer segment.
Tickets for tonight’s show at the National Cultural Centre are available at the venue for $1,500, $2,000 and $3,000 while tickets for the Beach Jam are $2,000 and available at Ashmin’s Trading.
