– CCTV for medical supplies’ bonds
The government is installing surveillance cameras at a number of its multi-million-dollar medical supplies’ bonds to boost security.
Yesterday, bids for this and other contracts, including the construction of several core homes for poor families, were opened by officials of the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board, Ministry of Finance building, Main Street.
Bids were also opened for a major upgrade of the offices of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), under the Modernisation of the Justice Administration System (MJAS).
Under the MJAS, the updating of key records and the creation of more efficient DPP offices, with space for more officers, are on the agenda.
The bids opened will see the rehabilitation of the DPP’s offices in Georgetown, Berbice and Essequibo.
The Engineer’s estimate for the project is $27,120,555 while the bids opened yesterday were:

Several low-cost homes are being built for poor families with applicants having to satisfy the pre-conditions. The homes, over 40 of them, are to be built in Westminster on the West Bank of Demerara, and in Area ‘B’ Lusignan, and Section ‘EE’ Nonpareil, on the East Coast of Demerara.
The Engineer’s estimate for the five lots total $72,563,906 and the bids opened were:
