Dear Editor,
Your publication has recently carried a number of critical letters from Freddie Kissoon, Lincoln Lewis, Mark Benchop, M. Maxwell, Malcolm Harripaul, Sasenarine Singh, and Hamilton Green that were very offensive and downright rude to the President and members of his cabinet.
This is the administration that made freedom of speech possible, and it is indeed sad to see the abuse of this freedom.
During the PNC rule, this privilege was not possible, and Green at least should know this. Like Burnham, Reid, and Hoyte, Green will soon be gone. He is living in the past. He is obsolete. He has a lot of guilt, bitterness and hate in his heart. He is evil, and a bad influence. He wants to see facts.
The fact is that with free and fair elections since 1992, the PNC has lost every election. As for the criticism from the others, they are just drifters, and are beginning to feel extremely nervous.
They see the writing on the wall – another victory for the PPP. The bitterness and the hate will get worse, but good will always prevail over evil.
No President or Minister is perfect. No government is perfect. This administration may have its faults, but, it is nothing compared to the pompous and illegal regime of the P.N.C. In spite of the negative reports, the administration now has a much stronger support, and a bigger victory is assured.
The present administration has brought back Guyana to life. The people now have homes, food, cell phones, cars, computers, and a far better way of life, including better health care, better roads, better transportation and better schools.
This is not only progress for the people, but it is prosperity, plain and simple. Those who have eyes see this progress every day. The PNC failed the people miserably when they took it upon themselves to illegally govern Guyana. Food was scarce, and Guyana was devastated and bankrupt.
Guyanese of every race still live with those painful memories, and will never re-elect the PNC ever again. But, Kissoon and his comrades will never accept this.
They will continue to be critical, and shall forever live in hate and anger. Their criticisms will have no effect on the hard work of the administration or on the hard working people. Indians, Africans, Amerindians and every other race know that when they vote for the PPP they are voting for continued progress and prosperity.
I hope that my letter will get the same merit as those from Green and his other critics.
