A piece a time de only thing people use to rent was a house. Nearly everybody use to rent a house. Then people start fuh rent suit. That was a change from the days when people use to mek new suit fuh wedding. But dem hear bout dem family in de States who does rent suit suh dem boys start fuh rent too.
Burnham tek de rent thing further. He start fuh rent a crowd after people and he fall out. He use to rent music set, comedians and everything fuh rent. Then he use to hold a rally and he rent de mike too.
Dem boys seh that after he dead dem believe that this rent-a-crowd was a thing of the past. People would go to a meeting because dem want hear wha de people saying. But then de time come when people hear de same thing that dem stop going.
Suddenly Burnham come back from de mausoleum wheh he lying down. Crowd start fuh rent again. De Big Man decide that he guh hold a sport fuh people of African ancestry. That  mean dougla people, santantone, mulatto and even dem who ain’t mix at all.
Old people decide fuh tun up at de sport fuh see Burnham because dem know that he dead lang and dem want see wha he look like. Dem see Bar-Rat. De man talk like Burnham. And de crowd was as  big, even bigger than wha Burnham use to rent. Bar-Rat had more money to pay.
Nuff contractor who was glad fuh ketch a dollar rent dem truck, and even dem minibus. People who want transportation couldn’t get any. Dem was stranded pun de road. That is when dem boys realize that nutten ain’t change in Guyana.
Now dem same boys decide that dem gun rent rum, some gun rent wife and some gun rent food. Dem seh that anything can rent. And dem realize that money deh in this rent thing. When people dead a man can rent people fuh cry and he can rent people to fetch de coffin.
Everybody thanking Bar-rat fuh opening up a new economic activity. Dem boys now waiting fuh see if anybody gun rent a vote. Some people already trying fuh rent de elections commission.
