Canada based footballer Sara Vaughn is keyed up, eager and rearing to become the latest Lady Jag to represent Guyana in the upcoming CONCACAF Under-17 World Cup qualifying competition which will see Group C action being held here from August 17.
Vaughn whose mother (Rebecca Vaughn) hails from the Ancient Country of Berbice and her dad (Matthew Vaughn) from England related that this is her first visit to her mother’s homeland and she is very happy to be here.
With seven (7) years of experience under her belt, Vaughn, a member of the Ajax Team under Coach Clinton Daniels said she would like to see her contributions to the Guyanese team propelling them to overall victory in the group.
“It’s really exciting being here because I get to visit my mom’s home country for the first time and for the team, I’m really excited to play against the other countries at such a high level in the big stadium too. I want to play really well and I want us to win.”
Training for the team continues at the University of Guyana Ground twice daily. Football fans and supporters are being urged to come out and support the Lady Jags in their quest to do their country proud.
Players from Lethem, West Demerara, East Demerara and the City make up the National team.
