The President of the Guyana Beach Football Association (GBFA), Mr Garth Nelson and the Christianburg Community Leaders met and decided that the Christianburg Community Center Ground, Linden will be the home for Beach Soccer in Guyana. This came about after lengthy and numerous discussions and meetings. According to President Nelson, this is a win win situation for the GFF, GBFA and the Christianburg Community.
US $2,000 was recently been spent on the development of the pitch and much more money will be channeled towards the continued development of the ground.
On Saturday August 20 a 6 team league will commence. At the commencement of the new school term in September, the GBFA will be coordinating a 2 month pilot programme amongst the 2 schools closest to the pitch. This programme will be spearheaded by Vice President of the GBFA Rollin Tappin
From Mon 5th to Fri 9th Sept 2011, a Beach Football Coaching and Management Course will be held in Bartica, this will be the second phase of the GBFA plan to introduce Beach Football to Guyana.
The pitch will not only be used for Beach Football but Beach Volleyball and Circle Tennis will also benefit. Playing of games and other such related activities will make an impact on the economical and social well being and livelihood of the Christianburg people and its environs.
President Garth Nelson would like to, on behalf of the GFF and GBFA, thank the decision makers of the Christianburg Community Center Ground for adhering to the request and is assuring all that football and the community will benefit. It is also his desire that the venue will be developed so that it can host International Beach Football Matches in the near future.
