The death of a 77-year-old retired lands development officer has brought immense sadness to his family and community at large.
Datadin, of Anna Regina, Essequibo Coast, was pronounced dead at the Suddie Public Hospital, yesterday morning, after falling from his back step.
Datadin’s daughter, Leena, said she was told of the incident concerning her father’s death, by one of his neighbours. According to the woman, the neighbour related that her father was observed lying motionless, on his back, apparently having fallen from a height.
Leena said that upon leaving her home to investigate what had happened to her father, she was confronted with the sight of him lying at the base of his back step, with marks about his body.
“About his body, there was visible swelling and bruises.”
Datadin, who his daughter confirmed was living by himself, suffered from a heart condition that required frequent appointments with his doctor.
Leena said the elderly man was cared by her daily.
