A 41-year old carpenter thought that by telling the court, “I am HIV positive, Your Worship, and plus me got three children” would prove an ideal excuse to set him free after he appeared to face a charge of break and entry and larceny.
Clifton Dowden appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court accused of breaking and entering the office of Walter Amarnauth and stealing two office chairs, one plastic chair, one ice pitcher, $1,500 in cash, two calculators, one measuring tape, one razor, one screw driver, two knives, one staple machine, one gloves, and one bandage between July 22 and July 23, last.
He was granted bail in the sum of $125,000 and ordered to make his next court appearance on August 8.
